For the cover teacher

Print one between two. Read the story aloud while pupils follow the pictures. Pupils can look back at it while they answer Task 2.

1. Tomos lives in Bangor with Mam, Dad and his little sister Nia. On Saturday, Mam said Tomos could play his farm game on the tablet in the living room.

Sam: Hi! What is your name?Where do you go to school?

2. Tomos fed the sheep and planted some carrots. Then a message popped up. “Hi! What is your name? Where do you go to school?” It was from someone called Sam. Tomos had never met Sam.

3. Tomos stopped. He did not type his name. He did not type the name of his school. He took the tablet to Mam. “Someone I don’t know is asking me questions,” he said.

4. “You did the right thing telling me,” said Mam. “We never tell people we have not met our name, our school or where we live.” Mam blocked Sam and turned off messages in the game.

5. Later, a flashing box popped up. “WIN A FREE PONY! Click here!” Tomos really wanted a pony. But he did not click. He went to find Dad.

6. “Good thinking,” said Dad. “Boxes like that can be tricks. Always ask a grown-up before you click.” Tomos felt proud. He went back to feeding his sheep.
